Assignment Board

GO TO: ADV CHEM | BIOCHEM | CHEM | PHY SCI I | PHY SCI III

PAGE LAST UPDATED: 3/28/2020, 6:45 PM

VIRTUAL LEARNING OVERVIEW

STEP 1. All virtual learning information and tasks have been highlighted in gray throughout this page. Thus, this should be your first stop in learning. Please note that daily tasks may be subject to change (e.g., addition of online answer keys, video recordings, and other minor activities; addition of details such as textbook page numbers, directions, and links; or removal/modification of already listed tasks).

We are on this virtual learning adventure together. Remember, these are all familiar tools (e.g., this website, Google Classroom, Shmoop) that we already use in our course. I hope that will ease any concern you may have in the transition.

STEP 2. Not all learning resources will be linked on the Assignment Board below. Please submit work, take SKILL CHECKS, etc. on Google Classroom. And, find my ensemble video lessons, readings, etc. on Google Classroom as attachments in corresponding activities and/or assessments.

The best way to navigate Google Classroom is to click on the "Classwork" link located at the top of the Google Classroom webpage. Once here, you will see that all virtual learning tasks are organized under various Virtual Learning topics.

STEP 3. Questions are best shared on our

  • LIVE or 24/7 VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS for Advanced Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Chemistry or
  • HELPLINE for Physcial Science I and III.

These features located in Google Classroom. (More details regarding VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS or HELPLINE are listed in the gray box below.) Of course you can still feel free to email me (tsteinbach@thorp.k12.wi.us) should you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for all your hard work during this time! :)

Do you have virtual learning or lesson science content questions?

ADV CHEM, BIOCHEM, and CHEM should utilize the VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS feature in our Google Classroom to post course related questions LIVE or 24/7. (Again, VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS can be easily found by clicking on your Google Classroom "Classwork" link located at the top of the webpage.) I will work hard to answer your questions as they come up throughout the day. However, I will plan to make myself available for a LIVE VIRUAL OFFICE HOURS on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on 3/23 through 4/3 starting at the times designated below.

  • 9:00 AM...BIOCHEM
  • 9:45 AM...ADV CHEM
  • 10:30 AM...CHEM

PHY SCI I and III should utilize the HELPLINE feature in our Google Classroom to post course related questions. (Again, the HELPLINE can be easily found by clicking on your Google Classroom "Classwork" link located at the top of the webpage.) I will work hard to answer your questions as they come up throughout the day.

EVERYONE should also feel free to contact me directly via email at tsteinbach@thorp.k12.wi.us should you have any questions.

The assignment board page will keep you posted on the happenings of your class. Updates will likely be made throughout each school day. Therefore, PLEASE NOTE THAT DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE ON A DAILY BASIS.

CHEM WEEK 3 ANNOUNCEMENT (posted 3/28): Great job digging in last week and thank you for your feedback! As of today 25 people shared their thoughts about how things are going in our WEEK 2 CHECK-IN on Google Classroom. And, here is what I found: (1) 15 people said the pace is good or too slow, 10 said it is too fast, and 5 did not respond yet and (2) nearly everyone found the Live Virtual Office Hours, ensemble videos, and this Assignment Board/Google Classroom set-up to be beneficial. As a result, we will slow down our pace a bit, meaning we will try to accomplish 1 or 1.5 lessons per week, not 2. However, before we move on, we need to revisit L68 and L72, because we progressed too fast. As a group, the Skill Check scores were not as good as I would have hoped. I will put your first scores in Skyward no later than Tuesday. As you can see below, everyone will get a second chance to take their Skill Checks, should they choose.
